I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Tuesday, May 5th, 26. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

Last week, I heard something with Deizan Stribling and Ricky Pearsall that I honestly didn't put much stock in,

but now it seems I may have been mistaken.

On the Sims-on-button podcast, Chris mentioned that he thought Deizan Stribling could compete with Ricky Pearsall for the 49ers number two wide receiver job.

This will be a sneaky camp battle here.

And again, I know people are going to look at this and go, oh, he talked to Shanahan.

And I have no, I've not talked about this at all, at all.

I'm just connected dots and I know how he plays and I'm looking at it and I think it's

going to be interesting to see with two high picks like this.

Now, I disagreed with that until I saw this from Matt Mayoko of NBC Sports Bay Area in his

roster projection yesterday, quote, if Pierceall provides an opening for stribling, that might be all the rookie needs to

take over a significant role in the 49ers offense.

As it currently stands, there could be a strong competition between stribling and

Kirk to be the team's number three wide receiver.

Mayoko also writes, Cowling is the frontrunner to return to his 2024 role as the 49ers punt returner.

Christian Kirk and Junior Bergen are also options.

Robinson, meaning to Marcus Robinson, a 10-year veteran will be battling the young guys,

including Watkins, for a spot on the team, end quote.

Now, side note, Junior Bergen better be an option to return punts.

That's literally the only reason he was drafted.

I mean, at this point, why isn't he the favorite?
