Today we continue our look into the case of Scott Macklam, who was shot and killed in the parking lot of St. Clair County Community College on

November 5, 1986. In part one of this series, we examine the crime scene, autopsy findings,

and the firearms evidence. In part two, we focused on eyewitness statements and Scott's victimology, revealing the

many gaps in understanding his personal life. We noted a complete lack of exploration into Scott's

relationships beyond his fiancé crystal and his activities outside of work and school. The investigation heavily

relied on Crystal's claims about Fred Freeman, a man she briefly dated before reconciling with Scott

in June of 1986. This singular focus led to Fred becoming the primary suspect, culminating in his arrest

on November 13, 1986, and his conviction in June of 1987 after a trial that lasted several

weeks.

Fred Freeman was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Now, in part three, we shift our focus to Fred Freeman, who is now known as Temogen Kensu.

We're going to look at his background and explore whether the investigation's narrative

truly fits the evidence that was presented.

Fred Freeman, who was also using the names John Lamar and Mickey Ford in the months leading up to Scott's murder,

was born in Flint, Michigan in 1963.

His early years were marked by instability.

Fred and his mother moved frequently, living at multiple addresses within Flint. In

1973, the family purchased a home in Burton, Michigan. His father, however, was not a constant
