Summary

Dennis Franks - On Saturday October 16th, Dennis suddenly passed away. He was a two-time guest of the podcast, a former NFL football player, but more importantly, my father-in law, the grandfather of my children and my friend. His accolades could go on forever. He was an amazing person. I've decided to re-air the first episode that he came on the WODcast. I want to honor his memory and also share with you a little bit of this incredible human being. He will be greatly missed.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Wadcast podcast. I am your host, Eddie Ift. Each and

0:07.5

every week I do a show where I usually bring guests on and we talk about fitness, health,

0:14.8

strength, conditioning, nutrition and a lot of times crossfit. But I like to branch out

0:21.6

a lot and get experts in their fields and lead athletes.

0:28.2

Today's episode is going to be a lot different than every episode we've ever done.

0:35.2

Today, I'm re-airing an old episode that I'd like a lot of you to hear.

0:43.1

But along with it, I'm doing a new intro right now for the episode. This is a bit of an episode

0:51.1

to honor a person, a person that was a guest of our podcast twice, a person who was close to me

1:00.7

and a person who we've recently lost. And I felt that this was, it was a tough week

1:11.2

to record an episode and I thought this might be a nice way to honor that person.

1:17.2

Unfortunately, earlier this week, I lost my father-in-law.

1:24.1

Dennis Franks or as we call him Diesel. The reason he was a guest of the show is not just because

1:31.2

he was my father-in-law, but because he was an exceptional athlete dedicated his life to health

1:39.3

and died, unfortunately, of bad health. So much done-pack, but I just want to talk about him

1:52.5

as a human because he was an incredible person that I looked up to and

2:06.6

cannot, this can't do it justice. There's no possible way. Me talking on a podcast can do him

2:13.8

justice. I'm very fortunate that I did interview him a few times and that he was very open.

2:19.9

Scott Norman and I interviewed him one time and then another time I interviewed him with Vince

2:25.5

Papali. And Vince Papali was the guy if you've ever seen the movie Invincible. The movie was

2:32.0

about him. My father-in-law was his best friend and in the movie is his roommate and he

2:43.6

Vince was a great athlete and they made a movie about his incredible accomplishment, but

2:50.6

it kind of overshadowed my father-in-law's accomplishments. So the only point, I think it's like
