Summary

Chris cites “Failure is an event, not a person” as his most impacting quote from Zig Ziglar. That quote comes from a longer quote of Zig’s, “Failure is an event, not a person. Yesterday ended last night. Today is a brand new day, and it’s yours.” We took that quote, and Michelle Prince in a recent Facebook Live talk, asked the listeners this question, “Who of you listening have had a failure in your life that led to something great?” There were over 800 comments during her talk and we pulled a handful to discuss in today’s show. 0:25.6

and the tremendous legacy of Zigzigler.

0:37.0

Failure is something that happens. Failure is a circumstance, it's not a person.

And I think about that all the time because I failed in a lot of stuff in life and I failed in some career stuff. I've also failed a lot of personal stuff. When I was a kid I was juvenile, high school dropout,

and some of it is funny to think about,

0:54.6

because I have some funny stories about that,

but then also some of it was kind of hard at the time.

And just kind of realizing at some point in life,

1:02.2

you know what, those things don't define me.

1:04.0

Those personal challenges, they don't define me.

1:06.0

If anything, I can learn from them and they can become part of who I am now and I can use them for good in some way.

1:12.0

And the same for career stuff you know like the

1:13.7

failures that I've had those are just events those are circumstances I am not a
