Summary
If this conversation is speaking to something in you, April inside the School of Self-Image is devoted to The Vibrant Well-Being Framework – and there's no better time to step inside. https://schoolofselfimage.com/go
What if the reason you don't feel as vibrant as you'd like isn't your schedule, your body, or your circumstances – but something far more subtle?
In the second part of our conversation, Laura Hinton and I explore one of the biggest hidden drains on your energy, and what you can do instead.
From shifting how you reflect on your day to retraining your brain to look for awe to rediscovering joy through simple pleasures – this episode invites you into a completely different way of living.
Here's what we cover:
• Why complaining often hides in "just telling the story" and how it quietly shapes your daily experience
• The simple shift from reporting problems to sharing wins and how it retrains your brain over time
• How awareness of your emotional state reveals when you've slipped into complaint mode
• The "and" technique that redirects complaints into solutions, acceptance, or empowered action
• Why journaling evolves from processing problems to training your mind to notice awe and amazement
• The overlooked key to vibrant well-being: choosing joy, play, and hobbies that make you feel fully alive

| 1:08.3 | to dive into a little bit more because we've all heard, |
| 1:12.5 | like you should complain less. But actually doing it is a totally different ballgame. And so I was |
| 1:19.5 | hoping that you could share some of your tips and secrets and things that you have discovered in this desire to live complaint-free. |
| 1:32.4 | Absolutely. I mean, first and foremost, you're right. It's not easy. And often you don't even |
| 1:37.2 | realize you're doing it. You think you're just sharing a story. And when you start paying attention, |
| 1:43.0 | it's like, oh, no, I can see, I can see the patterns here. |
| 1:47.4 | I can see where this is directly affecting the experience of my day. And so one thing I started doing |
| 1:53.9 | that has radically changed my approach to every day is at the end of the day, both Dan and I am, Dan is my husband. |
| 2:04.6 | We work from home, and so we see each other throughout the day, just, you know, checking in here and there. |
| 2:09.3 | But mostly at the end of the evening, we get together and have dinner. |
