Marshall here, welcome back to the realignment. seen as kind of this like academic not particularly interesting thing we

have taken granted coming out of the 2020 election though clearly presidential

transitions are going to be at the center of the next few elections, especially given the fact that there is a,

I'd say roughly 50-50 chance that Donald Trump could be returning for a second term,

therefore creating another transition moment.

The 2020 transition between the first Trump administration

and the first Biden administration went particularly poorly,

not just in the January 6th sense, but also in the actual compatibility

between different parts of the government.

Typically, outgoing administrations can work

compatably with their incoming successors.

That didn't quite happen, though.

My guest today, Keith Brown is a professor. He has a new book coming out.

It's called Roblocked. Joe Bryden's rocky transition to the presidency.

It gets into everything that went wrong during 2020 and how that can inform how a possible

succession this year could go much, much better.

We also discuss the role of outside groups and outside organizations like the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 agenda play in setting

the tone for what happens in an administration and how those transitions actually affect

the election beforehand in terms of arguing about the incoming
