So you found out on Monday of this week that you had received this letter from your stake president.

Okay, and it just came in the mail to your home?

Yeah, it was actually certified where I had to sign for it.

Well, my wife brought it to me and I started Mormon Stories podcast here in Kass Valley in 2005.

And it was a real powerful moment that they released my first episode of the podcast because

I knew then that this was always a possibility.

I had read Sunstone Magazine and Dialogue.

I was at BYU in 1993 when the September 6th excommunications all came down in September of 1993.

And so I knew that the church had a history of silencing or excommunicating people that ask hard questions

before.

And the internet had been around for a while, but what was different in 2004, 2005 was Web 2.0 is

emerging.

So Web 1.0 is just static web pages, but Web 2.0 was things like blogs and podcasts.

And I was among the very, very first to blog and podcast within Mormonism.

And so I knew that it was a new time and it was going to be a new experiment.
