Summary

In April 2005, Ha Smith, a prominent Vietnamese-American fortune teller, and her adult daughter, Anita Vo, were found brutally murdered in Smith's home. They had been beaten and stabbed. The killer had stolen cash, jewelry, and credit cards, and poured white paint over the victims' heads and hands, a detail that initially led police to consider that it had been a ritualistic killing.
