One of the top reasons people fall off the wagon when it comes to yoga, exercise, running,

active lifestyle is injury, hurt your back, hurt your knees, torn rotator cuff, takes you

off the road for a week, a month, and then once you've fallen out of the routine, so hard

to get back into it's like you can't get your energy back, it's like you can't get the

motivation back, your routines change, and very quickly you can spiral into a negative,

non-exercising lifestyle. So what do you do with these injuries? What do you do when the

thing that you love doing, whether it's cycling or swimming or hiking or whatever it is,

causes pain, which inevitably it will. What if your hamstring is pulled, what if your knee is tweaky,

what if your rotator cuff is bothering you? We often default back to our high school PE

teachers advice to rice, rest, ice, compress, elevate, okay, we try that a little bit,

and then maybe we try some heat, and then maybe we try some ibuprofenner, very often we do

a little of all three, then we watch some YouTube videos, start doing some self massage,

sometimes it gets better, oftentimes it gets worse, oftentimes it gets a little better,

we go back to our activity, and then it gets a little worse. One of the things that I've been

really cognizant of in recent years is not just the risk of injury, but the risk of re-injury,

which I think is much more of a risk factor for most people, meaning that slight twinge in your

knee that you ignore and blanket over with ibuprofen, suddenly becomes quite a major issue with your knee.
