I'm Tim here today with Lance. Lance, how are you today?

I'm doing fantastic today, Tim. We are just off the heels of another successful spooky season. Halloween was days ago. And I still feel like this sense inside that, you know, the spooky season isn't quite over. And our next guest, the person that we're having this great conversation with returns to the show in a sense for me to kind of put that cherry on top of the spooky holiday season.

But Tim, I want to put the cherry on top of your mood here. How is it? I'm doing great. Thanks a

lot for asking in such a bizarre way today. I'm excited to introduce this conversation with

someone who feels like an old friend. It's author J.W. Oker, and we've had

him on, I want to say a couple of times in the past. He wrote a book about cryptids called

the United States of cryptids. He also wrote cursed objects about strange but true stories

of the world's most infamous items. And he's got a new book, a new nonfiction

book. It's called cult following. And it's really great. It's the extreme sex that capture our

imaginations and take over our lives. Definitely a very fascinating topic. And I love the way we get

into this topic because we dissect the literal definition

of cult. If we can get to that, then maybe we can figure out a way to tone them down, take their

power away, make sure that people understand the difference between a fan base and a religious

organization, like a legitimate religious organization and a cult that's run by a narcissist or a few narcissists,

taking advantage of people who are looking to fill some hole in their own life.

Also, Tim, I don't know if you were aware, but during this conversation, I was getting over cold, so my voice sounds a little different.
