Summary

As the Seattle Seahawks wrap up their first week of OTAs, it's notable how excited Seahawks fans are about the 2025 team. In this week's show, we pull some of our favorite quotes from press conferences from Abe Lucas, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Sam Darnold and Ernest Jones. It was one quote in particular from Abe Lucas that has Adam really excited for the upcoming season and why our show has now anointed him as the Seahawks offensive ambassador.  The message of the Seahawks using a fullback came through loud and clear via Abe as well as Sam Darnold. Klint Kubiak has taken note of Jalen Milroe's worth ethic and the early hours he's coming into the facility to work.

On the defensive side, coordinator Aden Durde talked about what it has meant for the team to have everyone on board for the voluntary portion of OTAs. But how important is it really? We're somewhat conflicted on the importance. We do note the importance of having a pair of linebackers who are in sync with each other. Ernest Jones talked about just how important Tyrice Knight has been in his own development, and how they've been improving their relationship in the offseason.

In the second half of the show, Sam Darnold reveals how good (or bad) of a golfer he is. It's the first time in the history of the show that we'll have a starting quarterback who seems to golf regularly. Lumen Field is getting nearly 20 million in upgrades next offseason for the World Cup, but it sounds like only one of the improvements will actually benefit a small portion of Seahawks fans. The audio equipment company Rode is highlighted in the Do Better segment along with organization highlighting mock draft content for 2026. Better at life honors go out to the Steelers organization (for maybe the only time) and to our Seahawks for highlighting its 50th Season game for the upcoming year.

I'm Brandon Shultz, and I am joined by my good buddy, Adam Emmert, as we have wrapped up OTAs and we got a little bit more football before we finally get into the summer.

0:22.8

We do. And it's always fun when you get the whole team out there for the first time for the

0:28.1

year. And you kind of get to at least see the guys in the in the jersey, right? And running around

0:33.3

in shorts and doing their thing. I only have one request from all these NFL teams.

0:38.3

Can we just call all of these things practice?

0:41.4

Like this week is OTAs.

0:43.4

Next week is mini camp.

0:44.8

Next one's training camp.

0:46.3

Next one's like,

0:46.9

just how about it just be practice?

0:49.4

Like,

0:49.7

why does it all have to have like 46 names?

0:52.3

Because I can't keep them straight.

0:53.6

This was OTAs, apparently next week minicam. From what I can tell, they're all going to show up and then practice. You know, if you really break it down to what they're doing, it is, it all comes down to practice. We're talking about practice, Adam. Talking about practice, man. And I'm excited to talk about practice, to be honest. like this this was, this was fun to see all the dudes out there, get some cool sound from some of the pressers, get some observation from some of the beat reporters that were there. And it's, uh, including one quote that we will get to throughout this pod, Brandon, that has me just geeked out. So I, I can't wait. There's a geeked out quote. There's kind of a head scratching quote. It's been a week to go through and dissect some of the quotes because one of the things about everybody getting together. One of the benefits is that you get some quotes. It gives you some stuff to talk about. It's interesting, though. You brought up, you know, seeing guys out there in their jerseys.

1:46.2

I think this was a switch that came along with Coach Mike McDonald.

1:50.2

And it's probably the most brilliant and underrated switch that I've ever seen through practice is that they went from, you know, back in the day, the quarterbacks would

2:01.6

wear the red practice jerseys. It's like, don't, don't touch them. But now they're wearing

2:06.5

the one jersey that they wear that everybody doesn't wear is the throwback. And so that's like

2:11.2

the quarterback jersey. That's so much better. That's a huge improvement. It's a lot more aesthetically pleasing.

2:19.0

But with that said, I wonder if it sends the same quick message visually as you're bearing
