Darkness doesn't become so intense that it overwhelms the light.

Light has to be diminished or withdrawn in order for the darkness to intensify.

So I would submit to you that what we are witnesses to is a reduction of the light.

Now I tell you that because that's very empowering

for those of us who are people of faith.

When we look at the world and it's darker

than we would like it to be, it's not a point of anger,

it's an acknowledgement that the intensity of the light within us, the truth

within us has been smaller than it could have been or should have been.

And so the invitation is to turn up the light.
