Summary

Jen welcomes psychotherapist John Gartner to discuss the history of the psychiatric profession’s involvement in our elections and why the Goldwater Rule should not stand in the way of its duty to warn us about Trump’s decline into dementia.  They lay out how he presents symptoms of cognitive issues in line with DSM criteria by analyzing his patterns of speech, the repeated confusion of dates and names, and his uncontrolled movements.  As part of their analysis, they explain how the media has gaslit the country by normalizing his mental state while pathologizing Joe Biden’s age typical behavior.  Will a massive public information campaign be enough to educate the country about the dangers Donald poses if he wins in 2024?

Hi, this is Jen Rubin and this is Jen Rubin's screen room. There's a lot to talk about.

0:11.4

We have a tragic accident in Baltimore, which a tanker hit the bridge, and they're still looking for survivors.

0:20.0

And we had possibly another wreck, which was at the Supreme

0:24.0

Court. Now, on this one, I'm much more optimistic. The Supreme Court heard the case on the FDA's

0:32.1

approval of Miffipristone, which is the abortion drug. This, of course, was allowed to be used, was approved for use

0:42.2

20 years ago, more than 20 years ago. And it was really made available and recently made more

0:48.8

available for over-the-counter use and wider distribution.

1:00.7

Well, the Supreme Court heard a challenge today by groups of doctors and other advocates,

1:04.5

and the first issue was, do they even have the right to be there?

1:05.9

What is their standing?

1:08.6

What injury have they sustained?

1:15.8

And this used to be a bugaboo of conservatives. Once upon a time, they used to say,

1:20.5

well, someone has to have standing. They have to have a real case because otherwise you just have advocates bringing theoretical cases all over the place. And suddenly the judges are not in the

1:26.8

business of judging, but simply opining

1:28.9

on laws right and left. Well, that's exactly what the conservatives are doing here. And interestingly

1:36.7

enough, they ran into a buzzsaw. You saw a lot of the justices, including conservative justices,

1:43.8

say, wait a minute,

1:45.6

there are these doctors who don't like an abortion drug?

1:49.0

They don't have to use it.

1:51.2

That's right.

1:52.0

They don't.

1:53.2

There's no one who is compelling them to use this drug or perform abortions.
