Welcome back to the quarter of the day show. I'm your host Sean Cracks and a

0:28.8

lot of listeners. And this is my Pamela Jett and she's talking about the very fact that

0:42.8

we're going to make mistakes and that we're going to encounter constructive criticism and sometimes

0:48.8

destructive criticism. And that's just the fact of life. And when we make mistakes or we encounter

0:56.3

this criticism, what we tend to do to ourselves is we beat ourselves up and we ruminate on it.

1:03.7

And we get this loop of negative thinking going on in our minds that really, you know, messes up

1:10.2

our vibe. And so what she's going to do today is give you some really, really simple things that

1:15.9

you can do to help you to better handle the criticism and the mistakes that you make. And so the

1:23.3

quote of the day is this, accept all compliments with a thank you. Here's Pamela.

1:39.6

And you thought I talked fast. Interestingly, we believe the things that we say when we talk

1:46.9

1:52.3

that 75% of the things that the average person says when they talk to themselves are negative.

1:59.6

We are incredibly hard on ourselves. We set limits on our own success. We set limits on our own

2:07.0

achievement. We tell ourselves, I can't. And sometimes those words don't just stay in our heads.

2:14.0

They come flying out of our mouths. Let me ask you a question. Anybody ever been driving down the

2:20.6

road and miss their off-ramp on the freeway? Anybody experience that? And perhaps you have a child

2:26.4

or had a child in your car with you at the time. And as you miss that freeway on for a few months,

2:30.8

oh, I can't believe I did that. I am so stupid. And then three weeks down the road, you see your

2:35.4

child playing with a puzzle or a toy and they make a mistake and they say, oh, I can't believe that.

2:40.8

I'm so stupid. And you think to yourself, I never told my child I was stupid. They were stupid.
