And I am Nancy Schwartzman, I am the director and producer of Victim Suspect.

Well, we are so happy to have you on Real Crime Profile and I just want to say so many of our listeners have contacted us to say please cover Victim Suspect.

And so many of them are so incensed, so angry. I've had so many messages from people saying we just couldn't watch it in one sitting. We had to stop and then start again and we just wanted to know what you think about this.

And our other co-host is Lisa Zambetti, who really wanted to be here today. She is on vacation at the moment. Her boys have just graduated, but she really wanted to speak with you both too.

And she knows how much our listeners have wanted us to deconstruct the Victim Suspect documentary. But to talk to the makers of it, my goodness, and the reporter who broke it.

And we'll come to you Rachel, but first of all, Nancy, you've done some incredible work.

You know, people really need to watch your documentaries Victim Suspect as well, but you did role-read role as well, which is your feature documentary nominated for a Peabody.

One, many awards about the rape culture, spotlighting the sort of the boys will be boys culture. I'm really opening the lid on very important conversations.

Now, just first of all, just want to say thank you so much for your work and to tell our listeners to please watch it. I believe it's on Netflix. And wow.

Well, thank you so much. It's role-read role. And that's the football chant in this very small Ohio town. So it's kind of like that's their or cry in a way. So that's role-read role.

And it is a feature dog. You can now find it on Amazon and Apple. And I also want to say that I wrote a book following the film sort of diving in a little bit more deeply about the region and history and some next steps and some violence prevention, which is also titled role-read role and rape power and football in the American heartland.

And that's been out for nearly a year, a little less than a year with his shet butts and you can get it at Barnes and Noble and other stores.

It's really important. The conversation and this now is the next. I would say victim's suspect. Would you call it the next iteration spotlighting a very important subject where there's another sort of twist on rape culture and misogyny.

I don't know if you see it like that or whether it was just something and I don't know how the project came to you. Perhaps we can start with that of how did the project come to you. And then we're.

I'll ask Rachel just about how and why and take us back to the beginning of the journey.

Yeah, I mean, I would I would definitely say that victim suspect feels like a really repelled, you know, next step from role-read role.

In that first film, I was really trying to understand the systems that enable rape culture. And in that small town in that first film, that was the football team.
