At the time when this podcast goes live, I am only a few days away from my last average frost,

which for me means my summer crops can start going in the garden. Can you hear the excitement in my

voice? This is the week we all wait for, right? If you're a member of my online gardening course,

the beginner's garden shortcut, you know I refer to this as

Go Week. And though I've got a pretty firm handle on when all my plants need to go in the ground,

it hasn't always been that way. I remember making copious notes trying to keep everything straight.

Depending on how many crops you plant, this can get confusing.

And if it's not already confusing enough, there's something else I've noticed that throws a lot

of beginning gardeners off, all those well-intentioned, quote, when-to-plant grids you see online or on

Pinterest. As I shared in a Facebook live video recently,

I saw that to be the case with one of my local friends. She posted, when should I plant what?

And I was kind of looking at the comments to see what people would suggest. And someone had

screenshoted one of those when to plant grids, and it gave what

crop you should plant and when you should plant it. But as I looked at it, I thought, that's not right.

I mean, it might be right for another zone or another growing season area, which I'm sure it was,

but it wasn't right for our area. And that can get really

confusing because those grids are really helpful if they are attuned to your area. And another

thing that confused me for a long time is you might see things on Pinterest or if you do a

Google search and it will say, here's when to plant what in zone seven,

let's say, because I'm zone seven.
