Summary

Katie Mather, writer and podcaster, joins us today to share about her mental health & trauma healing journey. She shares about her childhood (which turns out to be not as functional she wants thought!!), her struggles w/ alcohol, the book that changed everything, and her experience w/ EMDR after being physically assaulted. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.
Katie grew up in Alaska with a respect for two things—nature and the power of a good story to change everything (or at least something). She is a high school English teacher and soccer coach turned writer and podcast host. In 2020, KT published her first novel - "Rage is a Wolf". She currently lives in Vermont with her family, where she writes and hosts the podcast “Out of Curiosity with KT Mather"

So a few months ago my friend Taylor reached out to me and said that a friend of his was in the process of writing a new book and that she had reached out to him with some alcoholism AA related questions, which turned out to be more adult child related, which he then referred her to the pod.
1:12.0	And so he said that she was really digging the pod and
1:15.2	wanted to know if he could connect the two of us so her and I get on the phone.
1:18.6	Not only was she digging the, but she also realized,
1:23.0	oh, I might be one of these two, I might be an adult child,
1:27.0	which seems to be a common response when people listen to this shit.
