Spending quite a bit of time recently tuning into the Olympic Games in Paris. They have been so much fun to watch and you know I think

it's especially exciting to see them taking place all over the city of Paris.

Oh yes, Saline Dion in the Eiffel Tower, the athletes down the the CEN, yeah it was beautiful.

But as many of you know Paris also hosted the Olympics 100 years ago in 1924 and the American athletes came home with

99 medals which easily topped the other countries.

And there is a unique New York City connection to those games for in August of 1924,

100 years ago, those decorated American Olympians were treated to a very unique New York tradition.

The Ticker Tape Parade.

From the New York Times August 7th, 1924, quote,

New York yesterday spoke the nation's welcome home

to the victorious American Olympic team.

Though the hour was late for the Wall Street District, many had lingered in the office

buildings of Lower Broadway and showered snow squalls of ticker tape upon the athletes,
