This episode we're Ramones on the 50th anniversary of their very first performance at CBGB, a

Whole-In-The-wall club which became one of America's most famous music venues in the 1970s.

But this isn't just a music history show. We'll look at how New York City

itself shaped the career of the Ramones. Artists and musicians and writers

Ceevee was sort of the nexus for those people.

It was the neighborhood hang.

How the Ramones helped to define New York culture during that decade.

They used to play, I want to be sedated.

And that was when I sort of fell in love with the Ramones.

And changed the lives of thousands of wayward music lovers,

strolling that beat up old street known as the Bowery.

During all these projects I'm working on I feel that I have them surrounding me.

I hear their voices.
