Summary

CBD for Pain & Sleep

with Mary Clifton

Marijuana is quickly becoming legal or at least decriminalized in most states. Billions of dollars of previously criminal revenue is suddenly on-the-books and taxable, and hundreds of products are flooding the market including everything from skincare to nutritional supplements.

But what does it all mean for you?

CBD (cannabidiol) is just one of dozens of cannabinoids in marijuana, and it’s of particular interest for pain, anxiety, and sleep. CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning you won’t get paranoid or faceplant into the couch, so it can be a natural and safe alternative to prescription drugs.

On this week’s podcast, you’ll meet a medical doctor whose work focused around the safe and effective medicinal use of this once-illicit plant. .

Listen & Learn:

  • How to choose an effective dose
  • How much it will cost
  • Hemp-derived vs. cannabis derived CBD
  • Will I get stoned
  • When to add THC (psychoactive) to a CBD dose

a very very huge illicit drug trade that involved multiple countries

0:26.2

and thousands and thousands of people and literally billions of dollars for a simple plant,

0:32.1

kind of ridiculous, the idea to try to make something like this illegal,

coming to the mainstream. This is now a taxable good which is creating huge

0:48.0

huge tax revenues in states like Colorado and Washington State and all the

0:51.5

other places where it's become legalized.

0:54.7

And then the question is, what does this really mean?

0:57.2

I'm not a marijuana user.

0:59.2

I'm not a huge advocate of marijuana culture. It just doesn't appeal to me at this phase of my life

1:05.1

but what I think is pretty interesting is when you have this plant which has been used

1:09.6

for thousands of years and has some very interesting elements like CBD which is stands for

1:15.1

a cannibodial which is one of many one of dozens of canabonoids these

1:20.9

compounds that are inside of this plant that have some really

1:23.8

interesting properties first of all CBD it's important to remember as we get

not the end result but it's proven to be really effective for pain, anxiety, and sleep.
