Summary
A week after the Super Bowl and we're still celebrating a 49ers loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. For a third time, Kyle Shanahan has been involved in a game where he's been up 10+ points and lost. Despite reports of players not knowing the overtime rules and whether or not the 49ers took the ball first, does it even really matter? Did it even matter that the overtime rules have changed? It seemed like the 49ers were simply destined to lose that game based on several second half misfires.
The Seahawks new coaching staff is taking shape and we heard from Ryan Grubb, Aden Durde and Jay Harbaugh this past week. Which hire represents the biggest risk among the group and what are some common themes now that we see the leadership of the staff coming together? Geno Smith continues to be under contract, but is he here to stay for the long term? We discuss why we may be in for a couple months of Geno Smith trade talk leading up to the draft.
There are two former Seahawks entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame after last week's announcements. There are a couple members of the Legion of Boom who look to be a lock and one who could get snubbed based on how we've seen voting go historically. Plus, we announce this year's pick'em league champion! Pro Football Focus gets called out along with a list of the best Super Bowl halftimes in the Do Better segment. While Better at Life honors go out to a Bay Area headline writer and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

| 0:18.7 | Good week to be doing the pod, mainly because we do not have to deal with the 49er |
| 0:26.6 | faithful, and I put that in massive air quotes because you can see them with the knives out |
| 0:31.1 | already. |
| 0:32.3 | We don't have to deal with them trying to crow about being Super Bowl champions. |
| 0:36.9 | The Michael Jordan of football right now |
| 0:39.1 | said no. Thank goodness. Thank goodness we have Patrick Mahomes in our lives as Seahawks fans |
| 0:46.3 | because now, two times now, he has saved us. He has saved us. And the interesting thing is |
| 0:52.7 | some people, I feel like we're kind of at this point to where Patrick Mahomes is getting to that Tom Brady level of people are getting tired of seeing him win so much that because the 49ers were kind of an underdog territory and in part because Brock Purdy being the last |
| 1:12.1 | pick of the draft. I saw quite a few people who I felt like were okay with San Fran winning |
| 1:18.7 | just based on the underdog story. And if any like if it were any other team and any other |
| 1:25.2 | division and not in the NFC West, |
| 1:28.5 | I probably would have been on board with that storyline. |
| 1:32.0 | But I hate the 49ers so much that it can't be saved by any type of underdog story. |
| 1:39.0 | And not only that, they weren't underdogs. |
| 1:40.9 | They were three and a half point favorites on almost every single sports book. |
| 1:53.3 | Like they were not underdogs. They were three and a half point favorites on almost every single sports book. Like they were not underdogs. Everybody misrepresented the Chiefs defense going into that game or just underestimated them. That was a true underdog story. And it was hilarious to watch Kyle Shanahan |
| 2:00.4 | screw up again in a Super Bowl. I can't understand how the dude forgets to run the football in the third quarter. I don't understand that. And a lot of people are like, well, they were backed up. Do, do, do, do. There's lots of first downs that he didn't run the ball. It's the same as Pete Carroll being like, we didn't run the ball more because we didn't get enough first down so we couldn't get to our stuff. It's a weak-ass excuse, in my opinion. It was awesome to watch him fail. Had they run on first down more often in the third quarter than they wouldn't have ended up behind the sticks. And some of those first downs, it was penalties that put them back a little bit. |
| 2:35.0 | So, I mean, there's a few drives where you could say that it really was penalties. |
