Veganuary did have an impact on me, maybe not the way everyone expected, but it did, and I'm grateful I did it. In this short podcast I update everyone on what changes I have kept long term and why, why many vegan arguments are still not being productive, the health vs ethical component for me personally, and why I still value animal protein in my diet, just not half as much as I once did.

So anyway today's show what on earth do I want to go on about? Well in January this year 2019 I did

Vigannuary and as a result of Vaganuary I kind of went off on a few explorations of this topic talking about some of the health

components of a vegan diet, my experience of a vegan diet, the sustainability kind of

of side of it, the ethical and belief side of it as well. And I thought I would give you a little update of my own personal nutrition because

Vigannuary actually had a pretty decent impact on my own nutrition and it kind of made me realize that there was a

sweet spot with my nutrition that I could move towards.

So when we look at meat production in the UK, there's an awful lot of statistics and some of them can be quite conflicting, but I think when you look at all the statistics as a whole with meat production, meat production is putting a stress on the atmosphere on climate change, especially some parts of meat productions.

When we look at cow or beef production,

you know, that is by far the highest impact

on the environment with how we currently farm.

So I do have this perspective that, or I do now start to choose

my meat intake differently based on those statistics and also I realize that I don't actually

need as much meat as I was previously having.

That's also a good thing for me because meat is costly. Like if you think about

some of the meats that we buy, some of the fish that we buy, like it is hellishly expensive

sometimes, like, you know, I do like really good quality meat and if I look at things like salmon, if I looked at things like beef steak and stuff, you know, there are really expensive cuts of meat. So when you look at some of the alternatives, we're

already saving quite a bit of money. So the place that I've kind of got to with my

own nutrition is that I'm kind of essentially having one meat-based meal a day.
