"The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" has been extremely beneficial to Joey's mental health. We're seeing the pressure to believe something even if you don't actually believe it move its way into mainstream culture's true seekers. Can't we all just stop giving a fuck, and be honest with others and ourselves about what we actually think about ourselves and the world? We're the ones who live in our reality anyway, so might as well enjoy what we've created for ourselves.

0:00.0 | All right, if you hear my voice, you know you're listening to a podcast and I have been doing podcasts for over 10 years, I think it's crazy. |
0:07.0 | But one of the things that I am jealous of is that Spotify now makes making your own podcast so simple. I mean, it's crazy. Spotify's got to apply a platform that lets you make a podcast super easily. |
0:21.0 | Then distribute it everywhere and guess what, even earn money all in one place for free by the way. It's called Spotify for podcasters and here's how it works. Spotify for podcasters lets you record and edit podcasts right from your phone or computer. |
0:35.0 | So no matter what your setup is like, you can start creating today. Then you can distribute it, distribute your podcast to Spotify and everywhere else podcasts are heard. |
0:44.0 | Video podcasts are also available on Spotify. I mean, this is insane. With Spotify for podcasters, you can earn money in a variety of ways, including ads, podcasts and podcast subscriptions. I mean, they set it all up for you. Invested all seriously, totally free with no catch. Ever since I have discovered Spotify for podcasters, seriously, I feel like I'm on top of the world. |
1:05.0 | I'm going to be starting some new podcast by the way. In the future, if you haven't listened to some of our other podcasts besides songs and stories, you should be listening in. But Spotify for podcasters just makes it so easy. I highly recommend it. You give it a try. Download the Spotify for podcasters app or go to www.spodify.com board slash podcasters to get started now. |
1:35.0 | What's going on, dweebs. Welcome back to the bad Christian podcast. We'll get right to it. But I'll delay for one second to tell you that you've got to come to the bad Christian conference in February. If you've been listening to this podcast for any length of time and haven't been in the BC club or in the BC club, you haven't spent time around the community. |
1:56.0 | If you're a person, you're really missing out. That's kind of what the whole thing is about. So see if you can make it to Dallas, go get your tickets. Aaron Gillespie is going to be there. Propaganda is going to be there. Brandon Robertson is going to be there. Derek Webb is going to be there. And I'm going to announce some more special and good guests very, very soon. But get your tickets now is the smart thing. |
2:15.0 | And if you're in the southeast Florida, especially you got to remember, Emory's coming to town in January. You go to emorymusic.com right now. We're going to be there with O Sleeper. So get those tickets right away. All right. Let's do the show. |
2:27.0 | Oh, yeah, God showed up. I don't give a shit when I put in my body. You don't ever fucking call me that. So if you've never done all the extra virgin. No, girl, it's my plan. I showed you the dad. My penis when I was 25 years old. You don't get on. |
2:54.0 | Three, two, one. My name is Toby and I'm the master on the mic. When I'm on the mic, I do the mic right. And there's Matt. He's fucking fat and Joey. He sure is. Doey. But I'm in the best. |
3:12.0 | I'm the best. I'm almost three. And I am the rapper that you now see. And for your. You can hear everything I do is for the year. |
3:22.0 | The far the year. Very good. I accidentally said a bad word at the beginning. I want to go ahead and apologize to the listeners. Matt did to Matt jumped on the bandwagon. |
3:30.0 | Oh, thank you, man. Matt always gets my back. Yeah, I true. I try to get people's backs. But then you know, sometimes they put you in a corner and you had to turn on the person that happens from time to time. Just to distance yourself, you know, from from what they've just done or said, but I try to hang in there. Yeah, as much as you can. And that's basically the rule. |
3:48.0 | I got a couple things I wrote down. I wanted to talk about today. First one is. You know how I spent a decent amount of time in my life thinking when especially when I was really in the evangelical world thinking about how many people claim to be Christians that aren't and it used to really bug me. |
4:06.0 | You know, talking about. Do you know that feeling I used to have that feeling I was thinking about it. Something triggered it. I'll tell you what it was in a minute. But I used to have this feeling like my goodness. You know, these people are even Christians. I had that distinct feeling when I got to Seattle, especially when I got plugged in Mars Hill. Maybe because it was like like a cult. You know, but it was like, wait a minute. I don't think the other people that always said their Christian even are. I don't even think they care. I don't even think they get it. Right. And I started thinking like world wide. They get to use that Christian name. And not do anything. |
4:35.0 | I'm not doing anything. I'm doing my part. Right. Yeah. And I'm thinking, well, you know, I don't really know. I can't remember exactly what I thought like those either they're deceived or the really bad people. I can't remember exactly what my feelings were about them because I know people feel that way about me today. |
4:51.0 | So I'm trying to get into that headspace. But the feet what I was always thinking was there's social pressure that makes people have to appear to be Christian. |
5:01.0 | So that was the way to like kind of forgive them for it because it's like, man, that's my religion. You're all pretending here. |
5:07.0 | Watering it down messing it up. Maybe it's only 10% of people that are really Christians are true. The elect or whatever I must have thought. I don't know. |
5:15.0 | But most of these other people just think they are say they are and don't you know, but I believe it was because they're forced by social pressure. Like if you're in South Carolina in 1988, how are you going to not be a nominal Christian? Right. There's no right. |
5:28.0 | Social pressure would force almost anybody to play by those rules and use those words. Oh, yeah. I'm kind of past that now. But I realized that with the internet and with these other communities and with the world having changed, there's less pressure on that now. |
