Summary

Hang on to your cyborg limbs! As the Summer of Marvel winds toward a close, our penultimate installment has us revisiting the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. How do they hit us upon rewatching? How vitally important was the tone of the original film in terms of making the Marvel Cinematic Universe less of a snooze? What do the movies have to say about the power of sisterhood? Does Peter Quill have any internal life at all? Why does Jason dislike Ego’s Planet so much? And how does “Avengers: Infinity War” rely on the character development of the second Guardians movie? All that, plus a tree and a raccoon outwit a human repeatedly.

0:16.6	But before we go, one of the things I wanted to do was pay a little revisit to a group that we have not
0:24.3	talked about yet really in this whole series because we covered their movies originally when
0:30.2	they came out. And that's the Guardians of the Galaxy, who of course, when the Guardians of the
0:34.8	galaxy movie first came out in 2014, nobody knew what it was.
0:39.2	Nobody knew who these people were.
0:40.6	This is as obscure a comic book set of heroes as you could get.
0:45.3	Uh, you like, just, who are they?
0:46.9	What is that?
0:47.6	Like, nobody knew anything about it.
0:49.2	And actually, it was quite successful and people really liked it.
0:52.8	And then there was also a sequel.
0:59.2	And then those characters also appear prominently in Avengers Infinity War, which came out earlier this year. So we are going to sort of revisit the Guardians of the Galaxy and talk about with a little bit of hindsight of four years for one movie and a year for the other, how we feel about these films and about the
1:11.1	characters and about how they were used in the greater Marvel universe with Infinity War.
