Summary

An introvert/extrovert and HSP/non-HSP might take a look at the same vacation itinerary and have completely different reactions. An action-packed, busy vacation in a chaotic big city might seem thrilling to a non-HSP. Whereas an HSP might enjoy quieter, more peaceful activities with time for reflection. When your partner desires the opposite of what you desire, it can be challenging to agree on a vacation spot.

In this episode, I talk about what qualities I most enjoy in a vacation destination and how you can agree on a place to spend time off with your non-HSP loved one.

I share personal stories, advice, rants, and opinions about life as an introverted HSP, somebody who

experiences the world intensely. Before I start, I'd like to share a comment from the blog from a

lovely reader named Hannah.

She writes,

My husband found this podcast for us to listen to on a road trip after I read Dr. Elaine Aaron's book and fell in love with it.

At first, I thought he wasn't an HSP and I was, but after listening to your podcast, we found

0:51.4

that were actually both HSPs, with some traits that overlap

0:54.8

and others that often complement each other. Sometimes I laughed aloud because what you said

0:59.3

described me so perfectly. Thank you so much, Hannah. I'd like to share comments like Hannah's

1:06.4

because I think it helps all of us to realize we aren't alone. There are other people out there in the world

1:11.3

who feel the same way we do. Today's episode is about vacation and which vacation spots introverted

1:18.3

HSPs prefer. So yes, this is one of those shows that is more geared toward introverts. So

1:23.8

apologies to the extroverted HSPs. The reason this topic came to my mind is because my husband, Jim, and I have been trying to

plan out our next big vacation.

1:33.9

We try to take at least one international trip per year.

1:37.9

When trying to plan our next trip, we had a really hard time agreeing on a location,

1:42.2

which is unusual because we don't usually have that

1:44.5

problem. But this time it was really our different temperaments and desires that made it challenging.

1:50.6

For introverts, it makes sense that we like destinations that aren't super crowded with people.
