My name is Andrew Hunter Murray, and this week we will be covering three separate things.

We'll be talking about fires and fire brigades.

Brexit, but only very briefly and at the end and we do promise it is funny. But first, Fire. Private I has been covering

cuts to fire brigades across the country for many years now. They've been happening

with increasing depth and severity, especially since 2010 shortly after all the money ran out.

Jane Mackenzie has been writing about a lot of fire-related issues for Private Eye for many years.

Here she is, with more details on exactly what is going on at the moment.

This week the Fire Service Inspectorate have come up with a report on 14 different fire

brigades and their current state and it's not very good news really for a lot of them particularly

Surrey about whom the inspectors say they really aren't convinced that they're in a

position to keep the public safe.

Right.

They've had very severe cuts over a lot of years now.

The position for Surrey now is that they don't have enough firefighters to keep their

fire engines on the road.

What they're having to do is use a lot of people doing a lot of overtime and then call

on neighbouring fire brigades when they need to.

Right.
