Githa and her supporters had fled into the Severn Estuary and that was the final nail

in the coffin of the Exeter Rebellion.

With no help coming, they were forced to negotiate a piece.

But this wasn't exactly a victory for William.

He'd been on the throne for scarcely over a year and he'd already seen three separate

rebellions.

And this wasn't exactly an isolated issue either.

The entire kingdom was kicking off with mysterious fires, even more mysterious assassinations

on the woods, and then there was whatever that unspoken bit of business was in Cornwall

that William felt the need to deal with before returning to Winchester.

England was a tinder box.

And more than a few matches had already been lit.

Given the gravity of the situation, William decided to return to England to deal with

a chaos made a lot of sense.
