Summary

Can't meditate? Many can't, and don't want to, and I'm not going to tell you too, but I am going to talk to you about momentary meditation, about seeing things differently and allowing spacial moments that ends up being as good as meditation, and its easy to do and will have more impact on your life. This podcast also ties together recent thoughts on social media, mindfulness, anxiety and rates of learning. Enjoy.

Hey everyone, Benkumu Radio, how and Earth are you doing?

0:05.0

So today I want to talk about meditation.

0:08.4

Now, we've talked about meditation before on the podcast.

0:11.8

It is not a new topic and you probably would have

0:14.4

explored it and I can imagine if we're on it's been a little bit scared by it.

0:19.2

Meditation always seems like this thing where you have to carve out this magic 15 minutes and sit in a

0:27.4

serene environment and be calm and just find your way with it but you struggle and your mind wanders and it all feels like a bit of a mess and you feel like a bit of a failure with it and it all just becomes a little bit fruitless because you're not really sure what you should

0:44.5

be achieving from it. Now I want to talk about meditation with you today from a

0:49.3

slightly different perspective. The fact of meditating without meditating. So there's been quite a few

0:56.8

trains of thought on the podcast recently where we've talked about creating time

1:01.6

for yourself, prioritizing things that are important to you, not

1:06.0

always being connected to media and TVs and doing things, but actually just taking time for yourself for the important stuff and

1:15.9

this ties into this conversation so don't get me wrong there's many many people

1:21.2

that would really benefit from, you know, going to a yoga class or, you know, going through some guided meditation, using an app like head space, and actually being forced to just be quiet and listen and reflect.

1:36.4

And I find the kind of the extreme, most extreme environment of doing that.

1:43.2

So, you know, forcing yourself into that place where you're like, right, you're going to sit down,

1:47.4

you're going to do this, or right, you're going to think like that, can work for people that have quite polarizing characters like they're quite often go go go go go

1:56.7

go and it's always like that and actually it's just a case of right you're going to

2:00.8

sit down in a room and this is what we're going to concentrate on you just

2:03.5

learn to kind of be quiet and actually that's enough of a period of time to quiet in the

2:08.9

mind and relax for someone to get a sense of clarity. I want to talk about all this gray area in the middle. So let's say you've not really applied

2:18.0

meditating and you haven't really found anything that works, you're not really keen on it. I want to
