Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm Helen and this is the squiggly careers podcast. Every week we talk about a

different topic to do with work and share some ideas and tools that we just hope will help you to

navigate this squiggly career that we all have with a bit more clarity and control. And if you are

This week we're talking about saying yes, no and don't know. So why do we think this is important? Why do we think

this is a topic? Well, when you say yes, you stretch your skills, discover new skills and often uncover

potential. So there's lots of reasons for saying yes to things. When you say no, it helps you to make progress on priorities,

so things that are most important to you. And it stops you, I think, from getting pulled in

lots of different directions. And when we say we don't know, it gives us time to think.

I also believe it builds our confidence that you don't need to know everything to be good at your job.

And I think we practice when we say, I don't know, being vulnerable.

And actually often that builds trust between people.
