Podcast. Upduncombeen. It's a pleasure to have you on the show with us. Yeah, it's way here.

So, David, first off, tell us a little bit about yourself, where you work, what you do.

We'd love to know your background here to start.

Yeah, for sure.

So currently, I am the CIO at Butzel.

We are a 170-year-old law firm based out of Detroit, Michigan.

So I've been here for about two years.

A bit historically, I've been in other verticals. I've been in financial slash mortgage.

I've been in R. Motive. I've been healthcare. So over 20 years now in IT. But ironically, I didn't

actually start in IT. I didn't even go to school for IT. I started as

mechanical engineer. And due to a massive layoff, I transitioned to rope with me to IT.

So you have a background of mechanical engineering. I do. And actually, I am a printed circuit

board designer as well. That's actually where my career started.

I went from a bowling alley at 19 to working for an automotis supplier as an E-CAD library

and then a clean circuit board designer.

This is perhaps maybe in some ways an unsurprisingly Detroit story, right?

You went to work for an auto manufacturing company in some fashions. Right, exactly. Yeah, I had an inn, as is typical in the automotive industry.

You don't just get it out of school. It's all about who you know. My brother-in-law worked there,

got me the job. And then two and a half years later, almost three years later,

they closed the entire facility and I was out of a job.
