Happy New Year.

As I'm recording this, we're still a few weeks out from the new year so it's a bit eerie to be

typing 2018 into file titles and creating new folders to hold all the blog

posts and podcasts that will be coming in the next year.

As I'm going to talk about a bit in this episode,

2017 was a vastly different year for me in many different ways.

Not least in that my very scheduled routine oriented life was probably

the most unscheduled it's ever been. But it was a very good year and I waved goodbye to it with fondness even as I turned toward 2018.

While hoping to take away with me some of the lessons I learned during my more relaxed 2017, I'm also hoping 2018 sees a return to a slightly more regular writing and reading times,

among other things.

I'm being more realistic in my goals for the year,

which will be primarily focused on my fiction,

finishing the first draft of my

superhero historical wayfarer in late fall. I hope all of you have a

wonderful holiday today and that 2018 will prove to be an amazing year of creativity, passion, focus, inspiration,

and insight.

And on that note, I hope you enjoyed this week's podcast for life-changing New Year's

lessons for writers.

It's weird, but I actually don't like goals. Why does someone like me who has always

thrived on productivity schedules and forward momentum not like goals.
