Do you know the four key ways to talk to God in prayer?

When you show up and take that time for prayer, four things that we should always do for

basic things that should be a part of our regular conversation with the Lord in prayer.

I think especially here in the heart of the Advent season, as we're approaching the great

salemnity of Christmas, in Advent we're preparing a place in our heart for God.

We're trying to make more room for Jesus in our souls and growing in prayer and being very

attentive to the basics of a good Catholic prayer life, great Catholic piety is really important.

And today I want to share with you some things that many of you may have heard before,

maybe it'll be somewhat new, but for all of us we need to go back to these and ask ourselves,

do I bring in these four aspects of prayer each day in my conversation with the Lord?

Am I attentive to praying the way God wants me to pray?

I think too often in our world today, you hear so much people talking about prayer,

but it's more of a therapeutic kind of prayer as I show up for prayer for what God can do for me.

What is God going to do for me in my prayer?

How is he going to help me today in my prayer?

What is he going to accomplish for me and help me in my life with and make me feel better about

myself? No. God wants to help us, of course, and he does want to comfort us in our sorrows and

he does want to challenge us and guide us at all these things. Of course he does, but he does invite

us to pray the way that he teaches us to pray. There's a certain way that God wants to be worshipped.
