I'm John Bachelor visiting with Professor Robert Schmull.

It's filled with wonderful anecdotes.

We're not telling, I promise.

But we go now to a scene that I'm attracted to more than any other. It's Roosevelt gone. The

memory is gone. And so when Churchill comes to the White House again, Eisenhower is the president.

This is after Churchill returns to be Prime Minister for the second time in 52. And the first time he was defeated in 45 and Robert Attley a modest

man who has much to be modest about the quote from Churchill we have through the ages. He comes to Eisenhower

who is now the leader of the free world and the two do not to my reading hit it off.

It's very much you are my junior and now you're my senior and

Churchill who is aging well but still he's a man let's see he's going to be 88 and 53, is not vigorous the way he was during the war.

And they visit several times.

They have some sharp words in the second visit, I believe,

in 55.

And then Churchill leaves the premiership. And 59 he insisted on going back to Commons. But there's a

visit in between that is very sentimental. It visit during the during the time that

Eisenhower can take Churchill out of Washington and take him to his home in

Gettysburg.

Robert it's a compelling scene.
