My name is Sarah Turnie and this is Voices for Justice.

Last time on Voices for Justice, we explored Alyssa's early development and learned that

she was seen by a doctor who concluded that Alyssa had most likely been sexually abused.

We discovered another sexual assault allegation against our father and ended with a convenient

timing of our mother's death that resulted in our father receiving a large life insurance

settlement.

From the day our mother died, to the day Alyssa was gone was exactly 3,000 days.

In this episode, we are going to start digging deep into some of these days in the circumstances

leading up to Alyssa's disappearance.

Despite reports of our father spending more money than usual while our mother was dying,

after she passed, he told our mother's family that he didn't have enough money for a large

funeral or to bury her body.

So a small ceremony was held two days after her death for our father and us kids and our

mother's family paid for her body to be transported and buried in Kansas.

But as life does, it went on.
