So you're a DC man these days but you weren't born there were you no

I was born in not I was born in New York moved to Massachusetts when I was eight years old though so I don't call myself a New Yorker

nor do I call myself

a Bostonian I'm from DC now. How's that treating you? I love DC. The the city has

changed tremendously since I moved there. I moved there about 13 years ago when the stereotype and cliche that DC was nothing but bad

steakhouses for a lobbyist to dine at was actually pretty much true. A couple restaurants

changed it, a wine bar named Proof, an Indian restaurant named Raseika, I think they were trendsetters.

And now, D.C. I think is one of the most exciting food cities in the country.

So it's a fun place to live for that perspective.

It does seem like Philly and Austin and like so many other towns that there's been a rush of new restaurant openings.

Yeah, I think that's one of the surprising things to me about

the food people are getting excited about is in these,

you don't want to call them these second-tier cities but we think of

Chicago New York San Francisco is obvious places for exciting food and now people

talk about Charleston South Carolina Austin, Texas, Louisville, Kentucky, Boston, Massachusetts, where I grew up.

I have a lot of fantastic restaurants now and D.C. is on that list.
