| 0:57.0 | supporting me and today short and sweet. I want to talk about something that I think holds us back in life. It's something relatively small, something simple, but it really does compound over time unless we take a more graceful approach to it. |
| 1:12.0 | And I think it could be really helpful in life to let go of our urge to do this thing and instead just live. Just live. And I don't know about you, but if you look at the past episodes, I've been doing call it over the past two months. You might notice there's a theme here. And that's that I'm all in on doing my best to take the pressure off myself to stop always trying to do and be more and instead just enjoy what I have to no longer push off my enjoyment of what I'm doing. |
| 1:42.0 | And I have to some far out date. And so it's kind of with that in mind here. The thing that I think we need to address is our innate human desire to have all the answers in life right now to have the answers right now. |
| 1:56.0 | We put so much freaking pressure on ourselves to know everything to have all the dots connected now to have a master plan now to have all the answers now. |
| 2:06.0 | And I had a glance, you know, I suppose that that's kind of a good thing in a way. It's like it's great to be curious. It's great to look for answers to search for the things that we're looking for. |
| 2:16.0 | I think in fact, that's like a defining characteristic of people who set out and do create the life of their dreams. But I think there's a big difference between, you know, just being curious and searching for clarity in lives in our life. |
| 2:29.0 | And obsessing over finding answers, having answers, obsessing over knowing why someone broke up with you, why someone goes to do why someone rejected you, obsessing over knowing the exact correct path to accomplishing something, obsessing over finding the blueprint the exact way to do something, obsessing over connecting the dots moving forward. |
| 2:55.0 | You know, the reality of life is we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to know those things to know with certainty the ins and outs of what the heck it is we're doing. |
| 3:05.0 | And that creates a lot of internal conflict. It really does because early in life, it's easy to find answers. It's easy to get the basics down right. You get a lot of clarity quickly when you're young when you're growing up, you get the correct answers to a lot of life's early questions. |
| 3:21.0 | You go to school, you learn about what it takes to get a good grade to to graduate, you know, that a square plus b square, you go c squared, you know, all about photosynthesis, you got those things on lockdown, great. |
| 3:32.0 | You figure out how to get a job, great, how to rent an apartment, great, maybe how to buy a car. Okay, cool, right, the easy answers. |
| 3:40.0 | But then you get into the real meat and potatoes of life and suddenly the quote correct answers aren't so easy to come across anymore. Are they? |
| 3:53.0 | You know, you're just like, why do I feel lost in my career? Why did that relationship not work? Why did I fail at this new thing? What does it take to be happy? What does it take to be successful? Right. Bigger questions. |
| 4:06.0 | Your life's big questions. And there's something uniquely human about the way we go about facing these big questions, the questions that there's no exact correct answer like there used to be. |
| 4:18.0 | And what we do as humans is we look around and we do this thing where we just snap, assume that anyone else who appears objectively happy or fulfilled or successful, we assume that they, they found the answers. |
| 4:32.0 | They found the correct answers. They're in a role. Look at them. They have found the equivalent of a square plus b square to go c squared in the adult life. |
| 4:41.0 | But there you are without without the answer. You're there with unanswered questions. And so you feel behind you feel confused. You feel lost. |
| 4:52.0 | And I talk a lot in the podcast and in my journals and just everything my approach to life and mindfulness, I talk a lot about the power of the three letter word why W H Y. |
