I went from straight, meditating, conservative to queer vegetarian atheists.

I felt like kind of overnight.

And then it's been the past decade kind of not realizing it's not just a switch that

the past is like in you and with you still, my brain still, the hard wiring of like being

scared and afraid and ashamed, like is still all there and unlearning that is taking time.

Meanwhile, like your parent, my parents still exist, still believe these things.

We're on text message threads together, like they're sending me, you know, sermons of

the week and we're learning boundaries.

And so trying to like minimize that harm, realize like, hey, we just believe fundamentally

different things.

We love each other.

And we can have fun together.

That's been kind of a new discovery.

Like, hey, when we get together, let's not talk about how much you fucked me up.

It's like, sing karaoke together.

Or let's, let's change the time.

So we're all learning in real time, those boundaries.
