Welcome to Motivation Monday, where every Monday we answer all of your questions and have some real talks about life & fitness & get you fired up for the week! In this episode we talk about how to set proper strength goals, make friends in the gym and cardio do's & don'ts.
(0:00) - Intro
(3:20) - Josh quote: “Enthusiasm is common, but endurance is rare”
(8:46) - Kyle quote: “Exercise is a celebration of what you can do, not a punishment of what you ate.”
(12:00) - Weekly thoughts/recommendations:
(22:06) - Client shoutout: Jeremiah
(25:10) - Question 1- What’s a good factor for setting new goals in the gym? Like if I am squatting 90 lbs let’s say, by the end of the year, or 6 months - what should I progress to? Would love to see if you guys already talked about this!
(30:15) - Question 2- I heard doing HIIT the day after leg day is bad. Theory was it will take from your gains. Truth or fiction? Can I do Low intensity/steady state?
(34:35) - Question 3- Do y’all still take questions for Motivation Monday? If so, I’m going to join a gym to have access to more equipment (my home gym is limited). My family and friends don’t workout, but I want to have a gym partner to workout with. How do you approach people in the gym to become friends and possibly workout together? I don’t mind talking to people I don’t know but I also don’t want to bother them at the gym. Any advice would be great thanks 😊
Thanks for listening! We genuinely appreciate every single one of you listening.

| 0:00.0 | What's going on everyone? Welcome to another episode of the fit, healthy, and most of all happy podcast. As always, it's your coach and host Josh here with his co-host and co-coach KG and I'm in the house. |
| 0:12.8 | We got a lot of notes today. We are fired up. We're really just excited to get this episode going. There's just been so much momentum in particular. |
| 0:38.9 | You know, for those of you that maybe haven't listened to the last few episodes yet, but you bopped in here. We've been doing a 60-day shred challenge with our clients, you know, this is an exclusive challenge just for clients, but it's just been so motivating. And, you know, some of the little things we've been implementing have really just been helping me stay fired up. You know, even just the challenge of working through a book in a month, you know, |
| 0:54.5 | trying to finish an entire book in one month and we've been going through atomic habits. So we have some really great notes for you on some great takeaways. Even if you don't plan to read that book, you know, we're going to do our best to give you some of the secrets and some of our biggest takeaways in our thought section of this episode. but it's Motivation Monday, as always. |
| 1:27.9 | We're here to fire you up and answer your questions to get you ready to go for the week. And I just want to say thank you, first of all, to everyone. Just a quick moment of gratitude. You know, it's been amazing the growth we've seen. The podcast has really been blowing up as of late, which has been phenomenal. And I think that will lead to, you know, more opportunity and better content. You know, we do have some exciting, you know, thoughts and ideas for the future. You know, looking at the charts as of today, you know, we're number, the 32nd biggest podcast in the United States of America, which is so cool, like for fitness, that is. But, you know, we really want to get to that top 10. And then for Canada, we're number 12. So we're really close there, which is awesome. But it's been great to see how much it's blown up. And, you know, even I know I asked for reviews last week and so many of you did it. So, you know, to every single one of you who did that, that really does make our day and really goes a long way for us. So, you know, I just wanted to challenge everyone too to, you know, with this episode, |
| 1:47.7 | be grateful for us. So, you know, I just wanted to challenge everyone, too, to, you know, with this episode, be grateful for something and be grateful for someone who helped you get to where you are. So I'm grateful for you, the listener right now because, you know, you're helping me and Kyle grow and do what we love and help more people. And we're just really thankful for that. And if you haven't left a review yet, you know, this is where you could do it and continue to make a smile. |
| 2:03.4 | Because we got momentum right now. help more people. And we're just really thankful for that. And if you haven't left a review yet, |
| 2:34.5 | you know, this is where you could do it and continue to make a smile because we got momentum right now. Let's claim it. Let's keep it going. So you can leave reviews on iTunes or Spotify. They both do it now. So whatever you like listening to, hook us up and mean the world. Yeah. You know, it's funny is they're actually kind of indirectly helping someone else because when they share it, you know, more people will see it, but also it'll just show to more people. So just know that you're helping, you know, not only us, but you're also helping thousands of people out there who will find this episode for sure. But yeah, you know, just really, even though we've been saying it a lot, definitely just very thankful. So thanks for being a listener. In any way you ever think we can improve or do better, if you have cool ideas for us, if you're like, oh, this is a segment you need to do or someone you need to talk to or if you want to connect us with someone you know who would be great. You can always contact me and Kyle on our Instagram at Kloss's Fit. It's C-O-L-S-S-U-S-F-I-T always tons of great stuff going on there we're continuing our giveaways so you know we always got giveaways running at least I think for the next month and a half which is kind of crazy I want to challenge myself for it but I just love giving back and I love how happy people are when they win and giving people a little bit of boots and excitement and it's a great reason to head over to our podcast. So definitely be sure to hit us up there. But we're going to jump into the quotes because we love our quotes. If you're new around here, we start every Motivation Monday with one quote each. So we spent all week really kind of finding one not only that we love, but that we can expand on and just really enjoy. So my quote this week is not so much a quote, but just something I took out of a motivation video. And this is something Eric Thomas said, which is great, you know, a really powerful motivational speaker. He's just a monster. Like if you can listen to him and not get motivated, I don't know, like I don't think anyone could do that because he's just, he's so good. Like he just, he fires you up. His speeches, like he just says it with such conviction. But what he said was enthusiasm is common, but endurance is rare. And if you've been listening to like, or you follow us on Instagram and you saw my stories today, you know, we just got in from a flight yesterday. We were in a conference in Florida, which was really fun. First time in the Tampa area since being a kid. I went down there, like to go to the bush gardens, but it was fun being there as an adult and this beautiful, beautiful city. But, you know, case in point, we came in at about 12, almost 1 a.m. and then, you know, had a long drive home. Thankfully, our buddy helped us out |
| 4:14.6 | and drove us both, |
| 4:15.5 | you know, home. Kyle obviously lives closer, so he's lucky. But it was a late night, right? And I'm at a really heavy point in my training. Um, this morning alone I had a six by six squats. Okay. Six sets of six. Dang. And like it wasn't anything wild or anything like that but it was like |
| 4:32.4 | almost just about 400 pounds um you know and doing that after the flight after staying up you know |
| 4:37.7 | it's really easy to be like eh i flew in late i'm gonna sleep in i'm gonna skip today maybe we'll do |
| 4:43.1 | tomorrow or you know i was on the plane no point doing legs like you know once again that just goes |
| 4:47.2 | nowhere so even i said for fun like i brought my shirt i have a shirt that says um you know motivation uh discipline over motivation discipline over motivation is what it says because that's the thing if i rely on motivation to get in there and do my squats it's not happening but the discipline in me you know i made such a habit of me getting to the gym, being consistent of going at that time. You know, even in the book we're reading Atomic Habits, he mentioned how you're never automatically going to go to the gym. Like, you need to put in a process of getting yourself there and doing it and working out. But what you can do is you can get a little bit antsy at that normal time you'd go. So I like going at 9.30. |
| 5:21.0 | When I don't go, it throws me off. |
| 5:22.4 | And when I don't go to my Apple Watch chirps to me. |
| 5:24.8 | I swear Apple Watches are brutal. It'll be like normally are way further along, you know, like it's indirectly being like, get moving you like lazy, you know, like it's hilarious. So anyhow, the case and point is me having that discipline on me, get in there and get that done. |
| 5:37.9 | And that's where discipline is over motivation. |
| 5:40.2 | And going back to this quote, is. So anyhow, the case and point is me having that discipline on me get in there and get that done. |
| 5:38.1 | And that's where discipline is over motivation. And going back to this quote, enthusiasm is super |
| 5:43.1 | common. We've been enthusiastic, I'm sure, for a million things. You know, you feel like you're |
| 5:47.0 | going to take on the world. Even in the book, they mentioned a study done where they had one group |
