Radio mano, papà c'ango

When I am using this full name at his request because we talk about some stuff that maybe he'd prefer not get back to him directly.

Daniel was in the Marines served in Iraq. He then came back and worked on a SWAT team.

And did that for, I think it was five years or so.

Now he's living on some land in Idaho with his wife and three beautiful kids out in the middle of nowhere and sort of homesteading.

They're intense. Actually their tents got blown away a couple of months ago and a freak storm.

Hopefully they're back on their feet and everything's good now.

But I went and spent a few days with him and got to know the family and beautiful people.

Anyway we talk about some of his experiences. Daniel is one of these guys and I don't know if there's a theme.

I know all sorts of different people are listening to this podcast, different ages, male, female and otherwise.

But there does seem to be a theme of particular kind of guys that I meet on the road who listen to this.

Maybe they're just the guys who recognize me or come up and say hi or whatever.

They seem to be men who are in very masculine worlds.

But these men are more complex and nuanced than the worlds they find themselves in.

I'm thinking of a guy named Travis up at a near Lake Louise Jasper who is just a sweetest, coolest, gentlest guy you can imagine who builds on the ground.

He's a log cabin for a living with a chainsaw.

Now if there's a more macho way to make a living, I don't know what it is.

I think Daniel falls into this category as well.

You look at his life and it's like all macho energy.

It's at least masculine energy.

It's soldier and law enforcement and physical tough.

It's like throws people around.
