Great to have you here. So where did you grow up?

I grew up in Oxford in England and I was in Oxford till about I was 13 and then moved

up to the north of England to Manchester.

Oxford, big university town, incredibly traditional, beautiful, the dreaming spires of Oxford and then I moved when I was 13 to a big industrial

city which is Manchester one of the biggest in England but it was a great time to go as a teenager

I didn't have the classic English upbringing where you were born in London and

having sellers belonging to my parents

friends. I kind of got into wine much more slowly and my drink as a teenager was

what all teenage English people drink which was mainly cider and some beer.

But my real introduction to wine was when I got to Hong Kong when I was about 22.

I was at Sheffield University reading English literature and the day after I graduated I moved to Japan
