Hey everyone, this episode is donated to Brave Like Gabe.

This is Gabe Groomwald's birthday week.

She would have turned 38 years old, an age that is far too young to be wishing that she

was still here with us.

Gabe was a professional runner, a good friend of mine, and she passed away from rare cancer.

I'm on the board of Brave Like Gabe, and we hope to continue on Gabe's mission of raising

awareness for rare

cancer. We've already raised almost $2 million for cancer research, specifically adenoid cystic

carcinoma, the kind that Gabe had. Well, every September, we honor Gabe at the Brave Like Gabe

5K, and we'd like you to join us. Whether you're here in Minnesota on September 28th or

virtually from anywhere around the world, there's no excuse. Everyone can join. It's an awesome way

to get your miles going this summer, to think about doing something good for rare cancer,

There are pop-ups that happen all over the world and we'd love for you to do one if you can't be here in Minnesota or can't do one virtually on your own if you just need a group of people to help you along. we have Maya Moore with Girls Run Global. Maya is a super talented

runner from right here in Minnesota heading to Georgetown this fall to run and to study.

Maya took a gap year after high school last year and started a non-profit organization called

Girls Run Global. In this episode we hear all about Maya passion, and how at such a young age, she's done

this incredible thing of starting a nonprofit, which, as she says, is all about empowering

girls and equipping them with skills to succeed all through the sport of running.

How awesome is that.
