This week we are talking about the 2018 remake of Dario Argento's Suspiria.

Yes and I mentioned this to Kat yesterday but this movie is not what I thought

it was going to be. What did you think it was going to be? Well I certainly was

expecting something much more in the spirit of the original

Casparia, which is a work of Gialo film,

which for those who don't know is sort of like

murder mystery slasher type films,

the word Jialo refers to like the yellowed kind of like

trashy paperback books that you can kind of buy all over the place but you know

the original film is a taught 90 minute really I always

I always cringe when people use this word, but it really is applicable here. Very visceral

film, which uses this incredibly sort of bombastic score and this explosion of different colors to immerse you in this highly sort of dread-soaked experience and

this Susperperia is drab and lugubrius it's drab. It has a lot to say.

And also not enough. Yes, that's true. Actually, I believe it was in the Hollywood

reporter. Yes, Simon Abrams review of it started off with Susperia is the smartest kind of dumb movie in that its plot is

intricate without being complex which I think is a perfect read but I'd love to know

your feelings about this movie. Well this movie is long. It's two and a half hours long. I mean

I really like parts of this movie. I think it's really interesting that it's Luca Guadagnino, is the director, and like really wants to make this look like a movie from the 70s, not just in like the lighting or whatever,

but even just the camera movements look very much
