0:57.8	Now, when Ram Dass first went to India in 1967, he was still Dr. Richard Alpert,
1:04.5	a prominent Harvard psychologist and psychedelic pioneer with fellow doctor and mind-alterer, Timothy Leary. In India, he met his guru,
1:15.0	Neem Karoli Baba, who introduced Albert to Bhakti yoga, also known as devotional yoga, and gave
1:22.6	Albert his Hindu name Ram Dass, which means servant of God. Now, this trip was an inflection point for
1:30.7	Ram Dass who began to practice Bhakti, a single-pointedness of mind focused on devotional love.
1:37.9	Now, through meditation, Ram Dass began to cultivate his higher self, an awareness beyond ego and conscious attention,
1:47.0	a state of integrated or love consciousness known as samadhi.
1:53.2	Upon returning to the United States, Doss published his seminal work Be Here Now in 1971,
2:04.9	which subsequently became the definitive Western book on spirituality, yoga, and meditation for the hippie generation. In this episode, Ragu shares a
