Welcome to Journey Through Time. I'm David Ullijog. I'm Sarah Churchwell. And this is a special

bonus episode. It's the last in our series on the history of reality TV.

And for this episode, we are joined by a special guest.

Because as well as exploring the social history of reality TV and plotting how it evolved

since it first emerged in the 1970s, we wanted to hear from someone who's actually been

involved in making reality TV shows. And inevitably, both our minds turn to someone that we both

know, a man who's been described as the most influential man in British television,

Peter Basiljet, known to everyone as Baz. The list could take us days actually to go through all of the things that he's done, but

he's a former chair of ITV, former chair of the Arts Council, English National Opera, former

president of the Royal Television Society.

But also, David, there's a very specific reason why we invited him on to this series. That's right. Baz is the man who brought Big Brother to the UK and who made it a global brand.
