Summary

This week on the podcast, I’m diving into what it really looks like to preach like it matters. After decades of communicating, I’ve realized how easy it is to fall into patterns and lose that sense of urgency and purpose. But when I sat with a pastor in Brazil who said, “I preach every message like it’s my last,” it stirred something in me. In this episode, I’m sharing the practical ways we can bring clarity, structure, and conviction to our messages so they actually transform lives—not just inspire in the moment. If you’ve been preaching for a while or are looking for fresh fire in your communication, this one’s for you.

those of us that are speaking consistently and kind of the four things I really think we need

to focus in on. So I'm Havilla Kennington. I'm thrilled that you're here. And today we're going to

been doing it for a long time, you lose that

0:38.7

kind of reality of, yeah, I got to get my head back in the game. This is really, really important.

0:44.5

So I really think it's important to understand that there is a difference between a sermon that

0:49.6

makes you feel good and a sermon that you remember months or even years later. I want to talk about why or how

0:57.0

we can really help communicate those type of messages and sermons to those that are listening.

1:02.1

Recently, I was in a church in Brazil and this church has had exponential growth. It went from a small

1:09.1

500-person church to almost 25,000 people in this church in just a couple years.

1:15.7

And when you go into this building, it's hard to put into words what it feels like.

1:20.6

But there are thousands of people everywhere.

1:23.5

And the pastor and his wife that are leading are this young couple that are the most humble

1:28.7

and kind leaders I've been around.

1:32.0

But as I was sitting having lunch with this pastor, through a translator, we were asking the

1:38.1

conversation about how he's leading and what's important to him.

1:41.1

And he said something that I think was really profound. And it caused me

1:46.1

to sit back and think, gosh, I don't know if I even think of life like this or even my messages
