and engaged. Now, here's your host, Dr. Stephen Cabral. You've likely heard that taking apple cider vinegar before a meal can be amazing

0:26.6

for balancing your blood sugar, improving insulin sensitivity, and maybe even for fat loss as well.

0:34.6

What I want to share with you here today, though, is a giant caveat as to why

0:39.2

you should never take apple cider vinegar before breakfast on an empty stomach. So I know that

0:45.0

might be counterintuitive from what you might have heard here today, but I want to share with you

0:48.5

exactly why and how this works physiologically in the body. So when you look at apple cider vinegar,

0:55.1

again, it can have a lot of benefits, as we've spoken about before. It could potentially improve

0:59.5

digestion, improve blood sugar stability, insulin-based response. It could improve your gastric

1:06.7

emptying, so not allowing the food to sit for too long in your belly, and maybe even burn more

1:12.3

body fat. So I'm a proponent of it, but what I want to share with you is what happens when it's

1:17.7

taken on an empty stomach first thing in the morning before you actually have food. So apple cider

1:23.0

vinegar contains something called acetic acid. So by its very nature, vinegar is very acidic. So

1:29.7

acidity is simply the pH of something. It could be alkaline if it's above essentially a 7.14,

1:35.8

7 being essentially neutral, and then below that being more acidic. Vinegar, we know,

1:40.3

is quite acidic. It's able to be used as a cleaner. You can put in your counters. It

1:44.3

helps kill, disinfect things. That doesn't mean it's bad necessarily to put in the body. However,

1:49.2

what happens first thing in the morning is that when you put something acidic, now I will

1:53.2

give you one other caveat, as apple cider vinegar is absorbed through the body, it has a lot of

1:58.3

minerals. And so yes, at that time, tissue-wise,
