Do angular point restrictions actually help the quality of deer and genetic? Alright, this episode is a little bit different with Skip Slide. So limit the non-residents and get rid of the bait. Ohio would be the best state in the country if they did that. Skip is a pioneer and trailblazer of making positive impacts and regulations, most specifically in the state of Iowa. So if we open the flood gaps up, that would ruin the state.

If we change the gun season, that would ruin the state, period, end of story.

This conversation comes from a place of hopefully inspiring if you're from one of the states

0:29.1

that currently isn't reaching its full capability and potential to follow what Iowa has done

0:35.1

and what Skip has done being active on Capitol Hill to make your state

0:38.9

where you live great as a resident. Here we go. Michigan is panicking. They're losing new hunters.

0:45.2

They're losing serious hunters at an astounding rate. They're watching their system collapse and they can't

0:51.0

figure out why. All right. We are trying a new format of the podcast.

0:55.1

We were talking high tech.

0:56.7

Yeah, this is a magic bucket, or basket rather.

1:00.2

And we all threw in questions.

1:02.2

Three different people that wrote questions, and it's going to be, we don't know what we're going to get into.

1:06.4

What are some changes that Iowa could make that could ruin the hunting and quality.

1:13.1

If we change our gun season ever, we're toast.

1:18.2

If we open the tags up to any interest of any type, outfitters, non-residents, any group,

1:24.7

we want special tags.

1:27.1

There's a group that wants private landowners like me to be able to get a bunch of tags

1:32.3

to sell to the highest bidder.

1:34.4

If we do anything like that, our state is toasts because there'll be all this new access,

1:40.6

the residents will get thrown out, and all that, whatever special group it is, will dominate the landscape because we have such a little, little habitat here. I think we're now at about 7% timber trending towards six. I used to say eight, but we're actually going down. So there's such little habitat here and so few deer that our state would get gobbled up, segmented up, it would ruin it, it would turn it into what a lot of neighborhoods in Illinois have seen, if not far worse.

2:08.6

It would, no, it'd be far worse. It'd be far worse because there's so little of it here.

2:12.6

So if we open the floodgapes up, that would ruin the state. If we change the gun season, that would ruin the state, period, end of story.
