What happened in those first years? What gave you confidence to continue before you were really making a living at it?

You just know in your gut that this is what you're going to do.

Like I wanted to do it since I was a child and then you get laughs.

And that's it. You have no idea what way to.

You don't know that you're going to be doing hellgives.

You don't know that you're not going to be having any success for a long time.

You have no idea. But you're so overjoyed with doing stand-up.

You're so happy that you're in New York City going to clubs, getting on stage,

making people app working on yourself, learning it, doing it, just going.

It's just pure bliss.

There's a lot of hardship. You know, you're making five dollars a night

and that's all the money you have.

There's a lot of things that you would perceive as negatives.

But you really don't think about that. I didn't.

You'll appreciate this. I was talking to Paul Reiser, who of course was in Red Oaks with a lot of you.

And he says when you're starting out, there's almost like this womb around you

to protect you from the fact that you might suck those first few years.

But you don't quite realize it until you're good.
