| 0:10.1 | having a perfectly fine day and someone can cut us off on the road and it ruins our day. |
| 0:16.8 | Or sometimes we wake up in the morning, turn on the news or get on our phones, see what's |
| 0:21.7 | happening in the world, |
| 0:23.2 | and all of a sudden we go into that dark place of despair. |
| 0:27.6 | And it's amazing how quickly it can change. |
| 0:30.3 | Like I said, things can be going really well and then something happens and all of a sudden we have a very different effect going on inside of us. |
| 0:40.0 | Our happiness, our peace can turn to sadness or anger. |
| 0:45.0 | And when it happens, it feels justified. |
| 0:48.0 | We feel it's right to be upset. |
| 0:50.0 | We feel these feelings that are pouring through our veins seem appropriate. |
| 0:55.9 | But are they? |
| 0:57.4 | That's the question we want to look at today. |
| 1:00.3 | Because I'm going to argue one very important point today. |
| 1:04.0 | And it's this, we aren't disturbed by the things that happen to us, |
| 1:08.8 | but by the thoughts about these things that happen to us. |
| 1:12.4 | And if we really think about this statement that we're |
| 1:15.2 | not getting upset because of what's happening, we're getting upset because of our |
| 1:18.8 | thoughts about the things that are happening, we will see evidence of this all throughout our lives. It's our |
| 1:26.3 | anniversary with the person that we love and for some reason they forget and it |
| 1:31.7 | doesn't bother us at all we just laugh about it and |
| 1:35.0 | remind them and tease them. Other times it feels like a blow to the heart and |
