Psalm chapter 2, verse 8, ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage and the ends of the earth your possession.

Now the context here in Psalm chapter 2, the psalmist is talking about the son of God. And specifically, this is a picture

pointing us forward to Jesus and how the son of God would have authority and rule and reign

over all nations over the ends of the earth.

It's what we see coming to fruition in Matthew chapter 28, verse 18, when Jesus says,

all authority in heaven on earth has been given to me.

It's the picture we see in the end of the Bible and really the end of history, Revelation

Chapter 5, as Jesus is being exalted among every nation, tribe, tongue, and people.

That's the fulfillment of this prayer and this promise here in Psalm chapter 2, verse 8.

And so as you think about this verse, ask of me and I will make the nations your heritage and the ends of the earth your possession.

There's a picture here of the relationship between prayer, asking, and the ends of the earth belonging to Christ, the nations of the earth, praising Christ as his inheritance.

And I want you to think about how every single day, including right now, you and I have the opportunity to cry out to God,

ask him to give Jesus the inheritance he is due,

to bring the ends of the earth into submission to him knowing that one day that's

going to be complete and the way that's going to come about and you see this all over the book of

Revelation. I think about Revelation 6, Revelation 8 as we see the prayers of God's people rising before the

Lord and the consummation of God's kingdom coming in response to the prayers of his people,

we ask for the nations to submit to Jesus. And as we pray that, then God is working that plan out

all around the world. I think about today, the Bambara people in Mali, there's five million of them in

West Africa there. So few Christians, very few believers among the Bambara in Mali. And so we are

going to pray for the spread of the gospel to them that God would give the inheritance of the Bambara to Christ, that they would be worshippers of Christ,
